When it comes to catching fish such as mackerel, herring, smelt, and Spanish mackerel, the SABIKI rig is a highly effective tool. To use it, you'll need a 6 to 9-foot light action rod paired with a spinning reel. Tie the SABIKI rig directly to your line and attach a chum cage to the end.

The best chum to use is frozen krill, but if that's not available, minced squid or even pet food can work as well. It's crucial to use plenty of chum throughout the fishing process. Quickly lower the rig into the water, targeting the depth where the school of fish is located.
